Last year Youtube sent out a notice to content creators informing them that of a change in policy terms and conditions. As of now, Youtube can delete your channel and completely wipeout of your content.
Gone are the old days when Youtube would just send a strike notice. Now Youtube can flush all of your hard work down the toilet making your channel obsolete. Even worse, if you a big name in media or have a business you will not even be able to create a new channel.
[YouTube deletes conspiracy theorist David Icke's account after he made unproven claims about coronavirus]
As if we didn't see this coming!
Youtube has deleted David Icke's account. Who would have thunk it?
Icke has been a main proponent of the coronavirus is a hoax movement. Although I disagree with him saying the virus itself is not real, I do agree with his statement that the media is fearmongering and the elites, as well as people in government, are politicizing COVID 19 to further their agendas.
Youtube which is owned by Google, is now nothing more than another platform for the elites. Over the past year, it has become very obvious that Youtube is no longer a free speech platform. It should not matter whether David Icke is right or wrong about COVID 19 being a hoax, it is his opinion and he should be allowed to speak his mind.
Two years ago, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube banned Alex Jones and Louis Farrakhan. I knew then this was just the beginning of censorship of all of these platforms. The Democrats have used Russian hacker's theory as a way to put pressure on Mark Zuckerberg to censor anyone with a political alternate political point of view.
It is time that people create a new platform that is completely independent of elitist propaganda.
So everyone has heard the news that Youtube will be changing their terms of service. Recently released a statement to all content creators that has us all just a little worried.
“YouTube is under no obligation to host or serve content,” the company said in its new terms of service. The new terms also state that the company can “terminate” users’ “access” to their accounts if YouTube determines at “its sole discretion” that an account “is no longer commercially viable.”
The changes to Youtube’s terms of service indicate they can delete your account at any moment if they feel your account is not commercially viable. This notification has Youtubers nervous. No one knows what “Commercially viable” means as far as Youtube is concerned. Most people fee this is a way to censor Youtubers and keep the mainstream media at the top of its pages as Youtube has become a way to earn money over the past few years. If I were a person that depended on Youtube for income I would be nervous too.
One of the main reasons I have never bothered to monetize my Youtube channel is because Youtube is so sensitive about what is considered violence, or hate speech. A long time ago, I saw the writings on the wall as Youtubers started complaining about being demonitized without justification.
Youtube has pretty much-replaced television in the 21st Century. It is has become a necessary tool for independent media, podcasters, vloggers, etc.
Youtube has the power and with that power comes greed and influence.
Mainstream media has seen a drop in interest due to Youtube being a hub for independent media networks.
People are simply tired of fake news and political bias.
In response, Youtube has critiqued the algorithms, making mainstream media heavily recommended and independent media networks are buried resulting in a decrease of unsubscribed viewership.
This has drastically affected radio shows on Youtube such as the David Pakman Show. David Pakman has made a few videos recently explaining how this has hurt his show financially.
