In May, Dr. Joseph Fair, a virologist
made the claim that he had the coronavirus. Just like many other people that riding the wave of claiming they had the virus to get attention and to get sympathy from the masses, Dr. Fair sent a tweet for all to know he was a COVID victim.
“I’m on the other end of it, but not out of the woods yet,” he wrote alongside a “selfie” picture of him with a ventilator over his nose and mouth. “Please continue to social distance. I used max precautions but still managed to contract it. Back as soon as I’m able, friends,” he further wrote, concluding with, “#StaySafe.”
He would later admit that he did not actually test positive for coronavirus just a month later.
“My undiagnosed / suspected COVID illness from nearly 2 months ago remains an undiagnosed mystery as a recent antibody test was negative,” he wrote. “I had myriad COVID symptoms, was hospitalized in a COVID ward & treated for COVID-related co-morbidities, despite testing negative by nasal swab.”
It's people like Dr. Fair that people believe that COVID-19 is a hoax.
Not to say that it is, but I can understand why some people are skeptical. There are way too many inconsistencies. It also seems as if there those who are so hell-bent on having the virus that they are almost disappointed when they test negative.
Meanwhile, the people that are actual covid-19 patients are heavily scrutinized due to false claims by attention seekers. It's very slippery slope and people like Dr. Fair only make things worse.
